True, but on the other hand, performance is often a game of milliseconds, and milliseconds add up, whereby several such improvements can add up in the overall application.

Certainly worth monitoring effort vs. outcome, but don't discount small improvements too soon...

Agreed. Optimising for the sake of is not worthwhile if it's not optimiaing for the broader business context (i.e. doesn't have direct customer impact)
