I like your ideas about taking your time to investigate and rethink before jumping to conclusions. This is critical to avoid making huge mistakes.

Also, asking the whys is very important. Not just once but ideally nested whys. To get to root causes of issues or the actual rationale behind decisions.

A lot more goes into good software development than simply cranking out code.

I'm glad the first few companies I worked for were small startups because it forced me to develop all these other skills.
