Introduction
I’m big into self-improvement and becoming better.
It’s easy to miss our bad habits. Especially the micro ones we don’t notice except by reflecting thoroughly.
Let’s dive into how you can get to your goals even faster.
The strategy
1
Write down the top 5 goals you want to accomplish.
For every goal, write down possible habits that prevent you from making the progress you truly desire to get closer to the goal.
Write down every bad habit.
2
Write down what triggers the bad habit.
What or why exactly leads you to commit this habit?
Go through each goal and thoroughly analyze every bad habit that prevents you from achieving those goals.
3
You need to create an environment for yourself to succeed.
If you know buying sweets will make you end up eating them, stop buying sweets when going grocery shopping.
If you know you will end up watching Netflix when you’re not supposed to, cancel the subscription and remove the account.
Clean your environment and create one that naturally pushes you towards avoiding bad habits.
4
Replace bad habits.
If it’s hard to get rid of the bad habits, replace them.
For example, instead of snacking on unhealthy stuff, snack on healthy stuff and track the calories you consume.
5
The last thing is to identify whether you want to go all in or ease in.
Everyone is different.
Some people feel like it’s easier to ease in. I know people who eat a little bit of chocolate every day but not the entire thing.
Some people drop it entirely and focus on getting 100% healthy because having a bit of chocolate results in them eating the entire thing.
Find what works for you and stick with it.
It might be different depending on the bad habit you’re dealing with.
The ultimate strategy, loved that, excellent post!
So important to take a step back and reflect on changes in our environment we have to make.
With the chocolate in front of us, we end up eating it and feeling bad about it and setting up ourselves for failure. It's a downward spiral
