My promotion story
I was underpaid in my first developer job.
This was back in the summer of 2020. I began working as a Junior Frontend Developer.
My goal was to get promoted as quickly as possible to mid-level. It took me 10 months.
After that, I wanted to work as a Frontend Developer for a while before looking for my next role.
Why?
When recruiters look at your resume, one of the fastest ways to determine your growth and willingness to learn is your promotion.
To see that you’ve grown in your last company from one role to the next.
This isn’t often talked about. It’s one of the highlights.
Another thing I did, as mentioned: Working as a mid-level developer for 6 months.
I didn’t want to look right away for a new role.
This way, on my resume, it looks as if I’ve been working as a mid-level developer for a while before the new role I’m looking for.
My aim was to find a job that pays well and lets me excel on the career ladder exponentially.
That’s one of the tricks to becoming a Senior developer in my second job.
Be patient
Don’t be hasty.
Make the right chess moves.
You’ll find the dream role you’re looking for.
A job you get to wake up excited for.
